Refurbished training rooms for the Ministry of Civil Service

November 4, 2021

The Australian Government is proud to partner with the Ministry of Civil Service to support the efficient delivery of training to civil servants across Fiji, through refurbished training facilities.

These training facilities will better support the Ministry, which is responsible for providing learning and development programs for 31,000 public servants, as it organizes and delivers training in an environment well equipped with new office furniture, video conferencing equipment and laptops.
The upgraded facilities support online and interactive training – particularly useful in the current COVID-19 climate, to connect with civil servants from remote and maritime locations who are unable to travel to Suva to attend training.
While opening the training rooms this morning, Permanent Secretary to the Ministry of Civil Service, Ms. Susan Kiran, expressed her gratitude to the Australian Government for its ongoing support towards the upskilling of civil servants.
“Investing in these resources will enable us to connect with and better support the capacity building of government staff across Fiji, who will then be able to provide better services to Fijians everywhere.  We’ve seen the value of online communication during this time, and these training rooms will help us integrate more of that as we move forward with our learning and development programs,” said PS Kiran.
“Our partnership with our Australian vuvale goes beyond these refurbished rooms, which support the continuing engagement with the Australian Public Service Commission (APSC) who generously offered to review the induction program for civil servants and to propose new modules so we can improve the delivery of public services and continue the development of institutions of good governance. The Ministry very much looks forward to this continued engagement.”
The Australian High Commission’s Counsellor – Development Cooperation, Ms. Joanna Houghton said, “Australia is pleased to contribute to Fiji’s work to support a public service that reflects modern best-practice, and delivers effective services to Fijians.  The upgrades provided today will support the Ministry of Civil Service’s efforts to efficiently deliver innovative training to Fiji’s civil servants across the country.
