SUVA – The Public Service Commission (PSC) is deeply saddened to announce the passing of Permanent Secretary Parmesh Chand.
PSC Chairman Luke Rokovada expressed heartfelt condolences,
acknowledging the invaluable contributions PS Chand made during his dedicated
service to Fiji.
“Mr. Chand was a true pillar of strength, a gentle giant
whose unwavering commitment to justice and humanity touched the lives of many,”
Chairman Rokovada said.
“His willingness to share his insights and perspectives on a
wide range of issues played a significant role in advancing the welfare of our
people. He was always ready to offer his support whenever called upon.”
PS Chand was instrumental in leading several public service
reforms including establishing several key initiatives, including the Fiji
Truth and Reconciliation Commission, the Fiji Learning Institute for Public
Service (FLIPS), the Higher Salaries Commission, and policies aimed at
improving civil service retention. These initiatives will stand as enduring
legacies of his leadership.
“His legacy of principled leadership and steadfast
commitment to good governance will continue to inspire and guide the
institutions he helped established and the many individuals whose lives he
touched,” Chairman Rokovada added.
Over the past two decades, PS Chand held numerous senior
positions within the Civil Service, including as Permanent Secretary to the
Office of the Prime Minister and as PS for Civil Service and Public
Enterprises, earning widespread respect for his integrity, humility, and
tireless dedication to public service.

this difficult time.
