“As we develop, modernize and better integrate our economies with global standards and best practices, there is high expectations on openness, transparency and accountability.”
This was
the statement of the Permanent Secretary for Civil Service Mr.Parmesh Chand
while officiating at the Pacific-Australian SES Band 1 Development Program
(Leadership Program) in Nadi this morning.
Nine-teen Senior
Government Officials from eight countries in the region including Fiji are part
of this week-long training programme aimed at enhancing cooperation at the
senior level and fostering bilateral relationships in the Pacific region.
“This week presents us a unique opportunity to
pause, reflect and strategize in order to tackle the many challenges that
modern Pacific leaders are tasked to help address. It is also an opportunity
for us to build upon existing leadership capabilities with a focus on
effectively navigating the strategic and political context to achieve outcome,”
Mr.Chand stated.
The program, which runs from August 26 to August 30, 2024, is part of a
comprehensive six-month leadership development initiative. It includes various
learning activities such as workshops, project sessions, presentations, group
exercises, and coaching.
This training is part of a partnership between the Australian Public
Service Commission and its partners in the Pacific region.
Permanent Secretary Chand officiated alongside the Australian Public
Service Commissioner Dr Gordon de Brouwer who
is in the country for a visit.

SES Band 1 Development Program is a partnership between the Australian
Government and its bilateral partners in the region.
